Know our
calling
Very early in my Christian life, I experienced a deep desire to study and teach the Scriptures. This was coupled with an encounter with Reformed theology through the internet.
I clearly remember that one of the sermons that impacted me was Paul Washer’s “shocking message to youth,” from which I began to watch his preaching on YouTube.
This approach to sound doctrine gradually led me to meet figures such as John Macarthur, Steve Lawson, R.C. Sproul and Albert Mohler, who greatly impelled me in my love for the Lord and for the Scriptures.
This search for truth occurred parallel to the development of my friendship with Laleska, my wife today.
Arriving Palabra Viva Church in the same year, we had the opportunity to cultivate a friendship and shared service for three years before we became engaged to be married.
Laleska caught my attention because she wanted to be a missionary, or pastor’s wife. She spoke constantly about serving the Lord and enjoyed participating in doctrinal conversations.
One of the crucial factors in Laleska’s life was her brother’s early call to serve as a missionary in a farming town in our state and her mother’s passion for the Lord’s work. She prayed to the Lord for the privilege of having children who would dedicate themselves to the ministry, which two of them are currently doing.
This passion for ministry, and interest in the Word of the Lord, fueled the conversations I had with Laleska during my early years in the faith, moving me to ask for her as my wife in my prayers.
Fortunately, I was reciprocated by her, and on February 2, of 2015 we had our first romantic conversation where we agreed to pursue marriage and dedicate our lives to the Lord.
On November 7 we were married, and by the Lord’s grace we persevere to the present, becoming more and more grateful for our relationship and ministry.
In late 2017, we received our first call to ministry through some great friends. Colby and Marcia Ardis, co-founders of Sharing My Faith Ministries, asked us if we wanted to serve full-time as evangelists.
We could hardly contain our joy, and after praying for a couple of months, we started a ministry in the city of Mérida alongside the “Palabra Viva” Church.
In March 2018, the church recognized in assembly that God had called me to serve as an elder together with Eguis Rodriguez, and since then, I serve in this way with the support of Laleska.
God has been good to us, and gave us in that same year, the privilege of having our first child: Elias David. A beautiful and energetic boy who fills our home and family with joy.
Another of her remarkable blessings was the possibility of studying the Diploma of Biblical Studies at the Integrity and Wisdom Institute. We received the diploma in December 2020, and are currently pursuing concentrations in pastoral ministry (Eduardo) and biblical counseling (Laleska).
We desire to continue preparing ourselves for ministry, and to serve the Venezuelan church in the ways that the Lord allows.
We feel called to do long-term ministry in Venezuela, strengthening our congregation, and planting biblical churches in the region and country.
